The Residual Pressure Control Unit (RPCU) automatically depressurizes the aircraft in the event of abnormal residual pressure on the ground. It opens the outflow valve when:

• The aircraft is on the ground,
• Both CPCs have failed or manual mode is selected, and the outflow valve is not fully open,
• All ADIRS indicate an airspeed below 100 knots, or all engines are shut down
