When the guarded RAM AIR pushbutton is activated, an emergency ram air inlet valve opens, allowing ram air to enter the cabin and cockpit via the Mixer Unit, providing ventilation. This system is used in emergency situations such as smoke removal procedures or when both packs fail.

The RAM AIR pushbutton on the AIR COND panel controls the emergency valve. When pressed, it opens the valve, provided that ditching is not selected.
