#1. Define C.P.

Critical Point (CP):

The Critical Point is the stage of flight where the aircraft takes the same time to either reach the destination or return to the base, regardless of ground speed.

  • CP in Zero Wind:
In nil wind conditions, the Critical Point lies exactly midway between the base and the destination.
  • CP in Tailwind Conditions:
When flying with a tailwind, the Critical Point shifts towards the base, meaning the distance to the CP is less than half the total distance.
  • CP in Headwind Conditions:
When flying with a headwind, the Critical Point shifts towards the destination, meaning the distance to the CP is greater than half the total distance.
