#1. The gimbal ring of a turn co-ordinator is inclined at about 30° with respect to the aircraft’s longitudinal axis in order:

The spring-restrained gyroscope, mounted at a 30-degree tilt, enhances the instrument’s ability to detect and display both yaw and roll motions, making it a critical tool for ensuring accurate turn coordination and maintaining safe flight.

#2. If an aircraft turns as indicated in Figure 1:

    • The longitudinal axis of the gyro gimbal is NOT inclined at 30° to the horizontal,  the gyro will NOT respond to banking as well as turning input force. HENCE LESS THAN 3°/ second

#3. A turn co-ordinator has (i) ….. pivoted (ii) …….. in the case

A turn coordinator has one gimbal:

  • Turn coordinator: The turn coordinator’s gimbal is pitched up 30 degrees from the transverse axis, which allows it to respond to both roll and yaw.

The gyroscope is spring restrained and is mounted so that the axis is at about 30 degrees with
respect to the aircraft longitudinal axis, thus making the gyroscope sensitive to banking of the
aircraft as well as to turning
